The Phil teams up with Maria Aragon to help typhoon victims

Maria Aragon’s recent recording of United We Stand, in which the Phil was proud to participate, is now available on iTunes for only $1.29. All proceeds will go the relief effort in the Philippines.

Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir has teamed up with Winnipeg YouTube sensation Maria Aragon to create United We Stand, a new fundraising single, released to benefit the victims of typhoon Haiyan, which ravaged her parents’ homeland in the Philippines in August.

From Maria’s management’s media release:

When Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines last fall, rendering 1.8 million homeless, Maria Aragon decided to record a song whose sales would benefit her parents’ native land. It became a massive undertaking, involving more than 100 people, with the song and video being recorded and produced in San Rafael, California, Los Angeles, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Toronto.

United We Stand was composed by brilliant young Canadian/American artist, Naomi Striemer. It was produced and arranged by Narada Michael Walden (who produced Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin’s biggest hits), and mastered by legendary engineer Bernie Grundman (who mastered Michael Jackson’s record-breaking Thriller and almost every major pop/rock record in the past 20 years). The recording features Santana’s Tony Lindsay, Winnipeg’s Highlights Performing Group, and the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, one of the foremost choral ensembles in North America, conducted by Maestro Yuri Klaz.

Maria’s vocals and the choirs were recorded at Winnipeg’s Private Ear Recording, and the song was mixed and engineered by Private Ear’s John Paul Peters. The video was produced and directed by Nate Smith, from Squamish, B.C.

All time and resources to produce the song and video were 100% donated and all of the proceeds of the song will go the relief effort in the Philippines.

Purchase the song for only $1.29 on iTunes HERE.
