COVID-19 UPDATE
October, 2020
Dear Phil Patron,
Thanksgiving has come and gone and, while this may have been a Thanksgiving like no other, we are still grateful. Grateful for our funders, our sponsors, our donors, and, most importantly, you, our audience.
We had hoped to be well into rehearsals for a new take on our traditional Christmas with the Phil. Unfortunately, we find that the course of this pandemic means it is impossible for us to make any plans for Christmas, and, perhaps, for the rest of this season.
The Board nevertheless continues to devise scenarios that might allow you – and us – to once again experience the joy of choral music.
We are currently working on a way for our choristers to continue honing their musical skills and, hopefully be ready to perform as soon as public health measures allow. We will keep you posted here on the website, on social media, and via email (JOIN OUR MAIL LIST).
While we continue to develop our plans, we hope that you and your loved ones stay safe. Please join us in following all the guidelines set out by public health experts and scientists, including continued handwashing, physical distancing, and wearing face masks where required. The safety of our audience (and our choristers!) is of utmost importance, for without you we are only in a constant state of rehearsal.
There’s a song that Pete Seeger adapted from an old hymn tune: “Thru all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul – How can I keep from singing?” While it’s difficult to imagine right now what the “new normal” will look like for our choir and our audience, we are quite confident that, just as our choristers cannot keep from singing, our audience cannot keep from listening!
And so, until we can all be together again, virtually or in person, all of us at the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir – choristers, Yuri, Judy, and the board – wish you and yours good health and harmony.

The Phil Fund
The Phil Fund has been established to provide an opportunity for our donors to acknowledge those special individuals in their lives; to thank, to honour or to remember these friends of significance through a gift to the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir.

Come sing with us!
Have you always wanted to experience the thrill of singing major choral works with the WSO and internationally-renowned artists? The Phil is always looking for qualified singers to join us in making beautiful music together. Please read on about our auditions.

Gift Card Campaign!
The Phil is again running the Sobeys/Safeway fundraising campaign, and it is more important than ever, with all the concert cancellations, to bring in all the funds we can. We still have to buy groceries, after all.
The order deadline is November 16. .
