Fundraisers

Many ways to support the Phil.

One way is by participating in one of our annual fundraisers!  These fundraisers help offset costs associated with bringing high-quality traditional choral music.

The Phil runs four fundraisers a year:

  • Sobeys / Safeway Grocery Card Sale

  • Red River Co-Op Grocery Card Sale

  • Poinsettia Plant Sale

  • Spring Plant Sale

Safeway/Sobeys Grocery Card Sale – 30 September - 21 October

You already buy groceries – all you have to do is change the way you pay for them! The Phil sells grocery cards for use at Sobeys/Safeway/FreshCo/IGA and receives a percentage of each sale.

Deadline is 21 October.  Cards will be available about 2 weeks after that.

  • Cards can be used at Safeway, Sobeys, Freshco and others across Canada (see full list here: Bulk Gift Card Program | Sobeys Inc.).

  • Available in $10, $25, $50, $100 and $250 cards, or custom amounts from $5-$500.

Red River Co-op Grocery Card Sale – 21 October - 14 November

Here's how it works:
Order between 21 October and 14 November. Cards will be available about two weeks later.

  • Cards are available in amounts of $25, $50 and $100 and can be used for grocery and pharmacy shopping but not fuel purchases at any Red River Co-op food store (in Winnipeg, Selkirk, Lorette, Stonewall, Gimli and Niverville). This means you can support the choir with your regular grocery shopping trips!

  • You buy Red River Co-op Gift cards for face value and you get face value. Each card automatically includes a 10% donation to the Phil from Red River Co-op.

  • Shop at Red River Co-op Food Store locations as you normally would for grocery and pharmacy needs, and pay with your fundraising gift card.

Poinsettia Plant Sale – Deadline is 8 November

The Phil has sold premium poinsettia plants from Vanderveen's Nursery for many years. Both small (6-inch pots) and large (10-inch pots) are available for purchase. Plant varieties for small come in red, white, and pink with the large pot variety coming in red, white, or tri-colored.

  • Beautiful, top-quality plants in red, pink, or white in 6” pots for $17; or huge red, white or red, pink and white together in 10” pots for $31.

  • Order deadline is Saturday, 8 November.

  • Pickup at St. Luke’s Church (Nassau and Stradbrook) on Saturday, 29 November, 11:00 am-1:00 pm.

Spring Plant Sale

Plant Sale – Spring (yearly)

We partner yearly with Glenlea Greenhouses for our Spring Plant Sale. Glenlea Greenhouses offers top-quality plants at competitive prices, with fundraising selections including annuals, perennials, vegetables and herbs. For the balcony or window box gardener, they offer beautiful hanging baskets and mixed containers, or you can create your own from a gorgeous selection of container plants. Opulent pots of fall chrysanthemums can be ordered at the same time for delivery after Labour Day. If you are interested in plants that aren’t among the fundraising options, consider ordering plant cards; these can be used to shop in person at the retail location just south of Winnipeg or at the Glenlea booth at local farmers’ markets (see Glenlea website).

Please share the link (www.glenleagreenhouses.com) with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues. Depending on how much we sell, The Phil can expect to receive 20-25% (before tax) of the value of all plant sales and 15% ($3.75 each) on gift cards. The plants are always of terrific quality, and you’ll be supporting a local, family-run business as well as the Phil.
